==================================================== ARRL Rocky Mountain Division update -- November 2008 Division website: www.RockyMountainDivision.org====================================================
===== Rocky Mountain Division HF Net ===== Our next monthly Rocky Mountain Division HF net will occur next week to disseminate information and give us a chance to meet you and your ideas in QSO. Here are the details: DATE: Wednesday, November 12 TIME: 6:30 PM MST (see note below) FREQ: 3939 kHz +/- (Note on time: The New Mexico Roadrunner net occurs on this frequency and is usually finished by 6:30pm MST. In the event that it's still in progress at that time, we'll begin the Division net immediately afterwards.) The time for this net is nestled in an "open time slot" after the New Mexico Roadrunner Traffic and Wyoming Cowboy nets and before the Colorado Columbine net (to take advantage of the fact that many people are in their shacks already). There may be some fine tuning in terms of frequency and time for future monthly nets; any such changes will be communicated via a future Division-wide email and the Division website. Of course, constantly changing propagation conditions will have its say as to whether we can communicate across the Division, so please bear with us. In the meantime, please mark your calendars and join us!
===== November means Sweepstakes! ===== This year marks the 75th running of ARRL's annual November Sweepstakes, and while the CW portion has already come and gone, the phone portion takes place on the weekend of November 15. The goal, besides having a fun time on the air, is to work as many US and Canadian stations as possible during the contesting period, in addition to trying to work every ARRL and RAC section (clean sweep). Complete rules can be found at http://www.arrl.org/contests/rules/2008/novss.html.Read about Hams' experiences during the 2007 event at http://www.arrl.org/contests/soapbox/?con_id=140 (phone portion) and http://www.arrl.org/contests/soapbox/?con_id=139 (CW portion) and you'll see why November Sweepstakes is such an enjoyable event. If you've never contested before, this is a fun one for getting your feet wet. If you're planning on participating and know a brand-new ham or someone who may take an interested in contesting, consider welcoming them into your shack to assist you this year. Both Brian and Dwayne will be participating in Sweeps this year...please wave a hand if you work either of us, and we'll see you on the bands.
===== Free Webinar this Saturday: HF Operations for the New Ham ===== The ARRL Atlantic Division invites hams in the Rocky Mountain Division to participate in a FREE webinar.
